“Their popularity stems from both their trainability and hypoallergenic coat, which makes them ideal for individuals with allergies,” Wilkinson says.

With their iconic long bodies and short legs, Dachshunds (aka Doxies) are available in both standard and miniature sizes.

“The miniature versions of this breed are especially popular due to their small, portable size,” Wilkinson says.

These small dogs have bold, spirited personalities that far exceed their stature. While not built for distance running or high jumping, they bring energy and enthusiasm to everyday activities.

“It’s also important to note that these dogs are known to be big barkers and can sometimes feel overwhelmed around new people, dogs, or experiences,” Wilkinson cautions.

However, consistent training techniques like desensitization and counter-conditioning can significantly reduce their reactivity.

Beagles are also known for their distinctive, melodic bay, which adds to their charm, but might not be everyone’s cup of tea. While they can be independent, Beagles are loving and loyal to their families.
